New Kid Poster

Hauling a backpack full of his favorite books on this new READ poster, Jordan Banks—the star of Jerry Craft’s New Kid—will encourage kids to seek out new and diverse titles in your library. New Kid is a timely graphic novel about starting over at a new school where diversity is low and the struggle to fit in is real. New Kid, the first graphic novel to win the Newbery Medal, also received the Coretta Scott King Author Award in 2020. In addition to his impactful graphic novels, New Kid and Class Act, Craft is the creator of the award-winning Mama’s Boyz comic strip and a cofounder of the Schomburg Center’s Annual Black Comic Book Festival.
