Meg Medina, the 2023-2024 National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature, will serve as the 2024 honorary chair of National Library Week, which takes place April 7-13. Meg writes for readers of all ages: her middle-grade novel Merci Suárez Changes Gears, the first book in an acclaimed trilogy about the Suárez family, received the Newbery Medal. Her novels for young adults include Yaqui Delgado Wants to Kick Your Ass, which has been adapted and illustrated as a graphic novel by Mel Valentine Vargas; and Burn Baby Burn, which was long-listed for the National Book Award and short-listed for the Kirkus Prize. Her picture books include the 2020 Jumpstart Read for the Record selection Evelyn Del Rey Is Moving Away and the forthcoming No More Señora Mimí, illustrated by Brittany Cicchese, arrives September 2024.
