Tammi M. Owens is the outreach & instruction librarian and an associate professor at the University of Nebraska Omaha’s Dr. C.C. and Mabel L. Criss Library. At Criss Library Tammi is responsible for coordinating, assessing, and continuously improving the first-year writing library information literacy program, leading partnerships with student learning communities, and hiring baby goats at least once a year (among other outreach events). She has written and presented at the regional and national level on such topics as library outreach and instruction, language use and user experience, gaming in libraries, and library tutorials. She holds BAs in Religious Studies and Art History from the University of Nebraska Omaha, an MA in Art History, and an MS in Library Science, both from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Tammi is a non-practicing Buddhist who re-establishes her yoga practice two or three times a year, and hopes her continual failures on these fronts gives others hope for themselves. Her meditative practice is in the fiber arts, as after eight years she has finally let her breath guide her as she spins yarn. She lives in a condo in Omaha with her husband, two cats, and four spinning wheels.
