Innovative director Spike Jonze collaborated with author Maurice Sendak, winner of the 1964 Caldecott Medal, to bring one of the most beloved books of all time to the big screen in Where the Wild Things Are. Follow the story of Max, a rambunctious boy who feels misunderstood at home and sets off to seek new worlds across the sea. Max lands on an island where he meets the Wild Things – mysterious and strange creatures – whose emotions are as wild and unpredictable as their actions. The Wild Things desperately long for a leader to guide them, as much as Max longs for a kingdom to rule. When Max is crowned king, he promises to create the place he’s imagined -- where loneliness is not allowed and where dirt clod fights and building forts are a must. Max soon finds, though, that ruling his kingdom is not so easy and can be as dangerous as the waters that brought him there.
