Using Surveys to Improve Your Library Workshop
A two-part event, each session runs 90 minutes on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 and Wednesday, September 19, 2018, starting at 2:30pm Eastern/1:30 Central/12:30 Mountain/11:30am Pacific on both days

Surveys are a great way to gather user feedback that you can analyze to help enhance your library’s services and increase patron satisfaction. In this two-part workshop, assessment expert Emily Daly provides you with the knowledge you need to employ effective surveys that gather crucial data. In the first session, you’ll be introduced to survey planning, piloting, and methods for selecting your sample populations. The second session will focus on survey design and implementation with an overview of a popular survey creation tool. You’ll gain useful tips on how to implement surveys and the best strategies to write effective, actionable, and unbiased survey questions. You’ll walk away with practical skills that will help you gather useful data to make informed decisions for your library.

By the end of this two-part workshop, you will be able to:

  • Identify when a survey is the best methodology for gathering feedback and when other methods are more appropriate
  • Write effective, actionable, and unbiased survey questions
  • Have a basic understanding of how to use a survey tool to create and implement a survey
  • Describe the process of designing, validating, piloting, and implementing an effective, actionable, and unbiased survey
