Transforming the Library with User Experience Workshop
A 90-minute workshop, Wednesday, May 2, 2018, 2:30pm Eastern/1:30 Central/12:30 Mountain/11:30am Pacific

User experience (UX) design incorporates the practical aspects of utility, ease of use, and efficiency to make your web design and functionality decisions with patrons in mind. This results in a better design, a more intuitive interface, and a more enjoyable experience.

In this new workshop, UX expert Amy Deschenes teaches you the fundamentals of UX research and how it can benefit your patrons. Deschenes shows you how user research can help you make data-driven decisions and prioritize initiatives.

You will learn foundational knowledge about how to make websites and apps more user-friendly and how to incorporate these techniques into your organization. You will also hear examples of how libraries of all kinds have used UX research to improve their services and sites. Finally, you’ll be provided with several quick-hit research methods that you can implement immediately to learn about your own user populations.

After attending this workshop, you will know:

  • Current trends in UX research
  • How to apply UX best practices in your library
  • How libraries have used UX to improve their sites and services, and how you can do the same
  • The basics of several quick-hit UX research methods
