Steve Lawson is currently the Humanities Liaison Librarian at Colorado College. He has a Bachelor of Science in Speech from Northwestern University, where he studied theater, and a Master of Library and Information Science from the University of Texas at Austin’s Graduate School of Library and Information Science, where he studied rare books, archives, and special collections. Prior to coming to Colorado College in 2003, he worked in the Science and Engineering Library at the University of California, San Diego.

In recent years, his professional interests have included low-overhead, informal methods of professional development for librarians, such as library camps and unconferences and online communities. Steve is co-Carping Nerdboy of the Library Society of the World (LSW), editor of the LSW Zine, sponsor of the LSW Shovers and Makers awards. His next project is likely to look at how the future of librarians was depicted by librarians before the age of the personal computer.
