The mercurial state of public libraries’ relationship with e-books and their publishers is not always an easy issue to understand. This one-hour webinar features an up-to-date discussion of the current state of e-books with regards to public libraries and the publishing industry. Points will cover current and best practices as well as what will be coming down the pike. This archived webinar was originally presented October 31, 2012, as part of the “PLA Conference Webinar Series: Three Top Programs from PLA 2012.”

A fast internet connection and computer is recommended. We suggest that groups, especially larger groups, plan ahead to use an LCD/LED projector in the room to project the webinar recording. Groups will also want to have speakers capable of amplifying the webinar audio for the entire room.

Jessica E. Moyer

Jessica E. Moyer has MS and CAS degrees from the University of Illinois, Graduate School of Library and Information Science. Currently she is a doctoral candidate at the University of Minnesota–Twin Cities in the Literacy Education program. She has published articles in Reference and User Services Quarterly, New Library World, and the Libraries Unlimited Readers' Advisor Newsletter, and she is the author of Research-Based Readers' Advisory (American Library Association, 2008). An active member of ALA, Moyer is currently a member of the editorial boards for Reference and User Services Quarterly and Booklist's Reference Books Bulletin and is chair of the 2010 RUSA Awards committee. She reviews fiction, audiobooks, reference books, and professional reading for Booklist and fiction for Library Journal.
