Special Topics: Authority Control and Creating Access Points Workshop
A 90-minute workshop, Monday, August 5, 2019, 12:00pm Eastern/11:00am Central/10:00 Mountain/9:00 Pacific

In the new RDA, access point elements are defined for 12 of the RDA entities, making it possible to create access points for many new and existing entities. This webinar will explore how these new access points may impact existing authority control practices. It will also provide an overview, with practical examples, of how to create authorized and variant access points for new and existing RDA entities.

RDA Online Orientations
The RDA Online Orientations provide an introduction and illustrative examples to the many changes to RDA and the RDA Toolkit introduced during the 3R Project.  These series will provide a foundation of knowledge on which to optimize usage of the new and revised RDA and RDA Toolkit.

After participating in this event, you will be able to:

  • Define key vocabulary terms associated with access point elements
  • Describe how access point elements are addressed in the revised RDA Toolkit
  • Identify possible changes to current authority control practices, including creating access points
  • Understand how to create authorized and variant access points for new and existing RDA entities
