Professional Growth for Late-Career Librarians Workshop
A 90-minute workshop, Thursday, May 30, 2019, 2:30pm Eastern/1:30 Central/12:30 Mountain/11:30am Pacific

As your career winds down, you may find that you’re wondering what comes next. We spend a lot of time considering the best way to enter our professional field, but it’s equally important to consider our needs, concerns, and excitement for how we want to spend our late career.

In this 90-minute workshop, you’ll explore how to structure your late career and your transition to retirement. You’ve invested a lot in your work and your field over the years, and a thoughtful plan means much higher likelihood for a rewarding and enriching post-retirement life.

You will examine the unique talents that you’ve brought to your work and consider how you can continue to use them.  What passions have you had on the back burner? What brings joy to your life currently? And what matters most to you right now? Come explore these questions and learn a process for crafting a lifestyle that reflects your most valued interests, curiosities, ideas, and ideals.

By participating in this workshop, you will:

  • Explore how your values, skills, aptitudes, and interests have shifted over time.
  • Identify the “thread” of your ongoing commitment to your own growth over time.
  • Learn about options for combining work and lifestyle choices going forward.
  • Understand tools used by professional futurists and learn how to apply these same tools in your own personal lives.
  • Craft a plan for shaping a rewarding life that reflects what you most value and are most drawn to now to move toward a preferred future.

While completing your purchase, fill in the name and e-mail address of the participant who will sign in to the event by clicking the "Attendees" button to the right of the item in your cart. This individual will receive an e-mail from WebEx confirming registration before the event begins. Attendees should add messenger@webex.com to their approved email sender list, so they can ensure that they receive the automatic notifications.

This is an online event hosted through WebEx. Further technical information is available at the ALA Store FAQ page.
