Christine Niels Cigler

Christine Niels Cigler is the manager of public relations and outreach at the Fox River Valley Public Library District in Dundee, Illinois. She has written marketing plans under the guise of a public information officer, marketing coordinator, and manager of public relations and outreach. Cris started her marketing career as an assistant advertising manager for a flexible packaging manufacturer and has since worked in small branch libraries and large district libraries. She also received her MLIS from Dominican University in 2011. She thoroughly enjoys working with other marketing types in a variety of networking groups including the Soon to be Famous Illinois Author Committee. Cris sincerely believes that marketing is a misunderstood term and that every library would have a full time marketing manager on staff—if they only understood that marketing is not about selling—it's about defining what your community wants, and then giving it to them.
