Libraries Connect Communities 3: Public Library Funding & Technology Access Study provides information that can help library directors and library IT staff benchmark and advocate for technology resources in communities across the nation. The data also are of importance for policymakers at local, state and federal levels, manufacturers of information and communication technologies, and the communities served by public libraries.

The third in a series, the study offers the most current national data available on technology access and funding in U.S. public libraries – drawing on information provided by thousands of rural, suburban and urban libraries in every state; by state library agencies; and from focus groups and site visits in Indiana and Wisconsin. It is the only national source of information about public library technology funding. Additional data include:

  • Average number of computers
  • Maximum Internet connection speed
  • Internet services available
  • Patron technology training available

The study is funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the American Library Association.
