Laura Tucker

Laura Tucker has been working in children’s libraries since 2005 as a page, and been hooked ever since! At the end of 2014, she became the Head of the Children’s Department at Homewood Public Library outside of Birmingham, Alabama. Through this experience she has gained knowledge and insight into early literacy practices, elementary educational standards and working with tweens and teens in a library setting. Laura has partnered with local organizations to make our space sensory inclusive and provide sensory inclusive programming in the library. Laura has actively sought to diversify our collections and our programming to better reflect the community. Laura joined ALSC in 2017 in order to become more involved in the profession and give back to those that have taught her so much in her 13 years working in public libraries!
