Jennifer Taggert

Jennifer Taggert has enjoyed being a youth librarian for almost 20 years. She collaborated with special education teachers and therapists to develop the Youth Special Needs Collection at the Bloomfield Township Public Library and adaptive library programs. She has presented on inclusion and accessibility in library services and collection development nationally, including the American Library Association and Michigan Library Association, in addition to developing the biennial Adaptive Umbrella Workshop (a day-long workshop for librarians, teachers, and caregivers working with patrons who have special needs). Jen co-created and serves as chair of the Special Needs Services Roundtable (SNSR) of Michigan librarians providing services for children, teens, and adults with disabilities. She also serves as the programming chair for the Michigan Alliance for Cultural Accessibility (MACA). In 2009, she received the Michigan Library Association Children’s Services Division Award of Merit and was named a Mover & Shaker by Library Journal in 2016.
