Getting the Most Out of Library Volunteers Workshop
A 90-minute workshop, Wednesday, February 27, 2019, 2:30pm Eastern/1:30 Central/12:30 Mountain/11:30am Pacific

Volunteers can be great resources for your library—they can provide free talent and experience to your programs and can help get your community more involved in the library. In this 90-minute workshop, learn about all the benefits of having a volunteer program and understand how to overcome common pitfalls of working with library volunteers.

Catherine Hakala-Ausperk, a former library director with extensive experience navigating the staff-volunteer dynamic, guides you through this workshop and teaches you how to launch and maintain a volunteer program. You’ll walk away from this workshop knowing how to better work with volunteers to enhance your library’s offerings and how to grow an effective volunteer program.

After participating in this workshop, you will:

  • Better understand the value of volunteers and how your library can benefit when you have an effective volunteer program in place
  • Understand how to plan for and launch a volunteer program
  • Gain tips for recruiting volunteers and getting your community involved in your library
  • Understand how you can and cannot use volunteers to enhance your library’s services
  • Know how to avoid the common pitfalls libraries face in working with volunteers

While completing your purchase, fill in the name and e-mail address of the participant who will sign in to the event by clicking the "Attendees" button to the right of the item in your cart.
