Edwards Award Seal
The Margaret A. Edwards Award honors an author and specific works by that author for their significant and lasting contribution to writing for teens. It recognizes an author's work in helping adolescents become aware of themselves and addressing questions about their role and importance in relationships, society, and in the world. The Margaret A. Edwards Award was established in 1988.
The award is named in honor of the late Margaret A. Edwards, a pioneer in young adult services and an administrator of young adult programs at Enoch Pratt Free Library in Baltimore, Maryland, for more than thirty years.
The Edwards Award is administered by the Young Adult Library Services Association and sponsored by School Library Journal. Click here for more information about the Edwards Award.
