Creating a Digital Media Space for Today's Teens Workshop
A 2-part workshop, each session runs 60 minutes on Wednesdays, January 9 & 16, 2019, each starting at 2:30pm Eastern/1:30 Central/12:30 Mountain/11:30am Pacific

In the age of iPads, YouTube, and instant information sharing, an ordinary “computer lab” doesn’t draw teens into the library the way it used to. To get teens more active in the library and enthusiastic about library programs and services, a Digital Media Space can be the draw—a place that teens can go to record videos, use social media, create projects, and engage with the community and their peers on their own terms. Digital media expert Corey Wittig knows what it takes to build an effective, popular lab, and he’ll share his knowledge with you in this comprehensive, two-part workshop.

By participating in this workshop, you will learn

  • Steps for getting started, including planning and getting buy-in from library stakeholders
  • How to budget and allocate
  • How to schedule staff time efficiently
  • Ways to get funding through grants and community partnerships

While completing your purchase, fill in the name and e-mail address of the participant who will sign in to the event by clicking the "Attendees" button to the right of the item in your cart. This individual will receive an e-mail from WebEx confirming registration before the event begins. Attendees should add messenger@webex.com to their approved email sender list, so they can ensure that they receive the automatic notifications.

This is an online event hosted through WebEx. Further technical information is available at the ALA Store FAQ page.
