Brian Dobreski

Brian Dobreski is an assistant professor in the School of Information Sciences at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. His research critically examines knowledge organization practices with a particular emphasis on the implications of standards. As an instructor, he has taught courses on information organization, metadata, cataloging, and classification. He is a recipient of the Eugene Garfield Doctoral Fellowship for his dissertation, “Values in Knowledge Organization Standards: A Value Analysis of Resource Description and Access (RDA).” He holds a PhD in Information Science from Syracuse University, and worked previously as a catalog librarian at The Eastman School of Music.
