About the Editors
As the publisher of the essential
Guide to Reference Books, first
printed more than a century ago, as
well as Reference Sources for Small
and Medium-Sized Libraries and
Fundamental Reference Sources, the
American Library Association has
long been a source for authoritative
bibliographies of the reference
literature for practicing librarians,
library educators, and reference
service trainers. The ALA Guide to
Reference series continues that
tradition with expertly compiled,
discipline-specific, annotated
bibliographies of reference works.
Under the direction of general
editors Robert Kieft (2000–2009)
and Denise Bennett (2009–),
many librarians have contributed
their time and their knowledge of
reference literature to this series.
