The phrase "strategic planning" is frequently tossed around in libraries, but what does it really mean? And how does it pertain to youth services? In this webinar, participants will learn about the importance of strategic planning, what different planning processes may look like, how to involve youth services in the strategic planning process, and how to apply these processes to create a more successful youth services department. This webinar is part of a series hosted by the ALSC Managing Children's Services Committee.
Learning Outcomes
  • Participants will learn why strategic planning matters for youth services work
  • Participants will gain exposure to different types of strategic planning, such as frameworks and action plans, that could be used in their own work, as well as what strategic planning can look like in different contexts
  • Participants will discover strategies for how youth services can be involved in strategic planning within their own departments and library-wide
  • Participants will acquire an understanding of potential outcomes of strategic planning
