This new poster from Caldecott Medal-winner Sophie Blackall invites
everyone to curl up with a good friend—READ. In Finding Winnie: The True Story of
the World's Most Famous Bear, kids and their caregivers will discover the true story
of the bear that inspired Winnie-the-Pooh. In 1914, veterinarian Harry Colebourn
rescued a baby bear in his hometown of Winnipeg, Canada. He named her Winnie
and took her from the fi elds of Canada on a convoy across the ocean to an army
base in England where a remarkable friendship blossomed. Eventually, Winnie
landed in the London Zoo, where she made another new friend: Christopher Robin.
Written by Harry Colebourn’s great-granddaughter, Lindsay Mattick, and illustrated
by Sophie Blackall, Finding Winnie received the 2016 Caldecott Medal. Special
thanks to Sophie Blackall for original art and Little, Brown Books for Young Readers.
