About the Authors

Lupine Bybee Miller has been a children’s librarian for the Seattle (Wash.) Public Library since 2005. She has worked both in branches and at the Central Library Children’s Department. Lupine loves reading historical fiction and mysteries, as well as books with strong characters.

Jane López-Santillana is a children’s librarian at the Oak Harbor Library branch of Sno-Isle Libraries in Washington as well as a bookseller and consultant for Edmonds Bookshop. She has written book reviews for Horn Book and School Library Journal, recorded book review programs for public radio, implemented countless community and library readers’ advisory programs, and presented at Washington Library Association conferences on the topics of readers’ advisory for children and teens and services for Spanish speaking patrons. She has an undying passion for connecting each person with the perfect book—the one that will spark their imagination and lead to a lifelong, inevitably addictive love of reading.

Cass Mabbott is a supervising and teen librarian at the Indianapolis (Ind.) Public Library. Previously, she worked at the Seattle (Wash.) Public Library for 10 years. She has written reviews for School Library Journal and has taught classes at the University of Washington’s iSchool as an adjunct professor for the past five years. She is passionate about children’s literature and hopes to become a scholar in the near future.
